But then I chopped it in half and now have a double 10m one with split coolant feed

And the damn thing still won't cool below 35C without dropping the flow rate to a ridiculously low level . . . and then the pump overheats and shuts off    Still now I have the March May pump I may try it again

Or I might see how my bodged together 16m dual concentric coiled immersion chiller works

Mine's 7.5 metres -- 10mm copper in a 1" (OD) hose -- which is plenty. It cools the wort nearly to the temperature of the water. It's gravity fed, and 23 litres goes through in probably 15 or 20 minutes, though I've never actually timed it.

What diameter is your hose?

I made mine about 10m, I had the same problem the last few metres were difficult to push through, it is the resistance on the inner pipe on the inside of the hose pipe doing it.

The answer, and you'll not like it, pull it all back out.... and grease it up with loads of washing up liquid, it should help to get it through then when it's thorugh, simply rinse inside pipe and outer pipe till there's no more bubbles.

I cool to what ever temperature i need even in the summer with my 120 litre brews. In the summer when the water heats up a bit i just circlate the wort back to my kettle for 10-15 mins then send it to my fermenter.Would something like this help you out Aleman

Think mine is about 24ft - I gave up on the last 6ft of the 30 as the resistance became too high to push the microbore into the hosepipe any further  Haven't had trouble with getting the wort down to where I need it - during the winter it will cool to about 10C, but the flow rate is fairly slow through the gravity feed.
