I just brewed the following recipe
RAMSBOTTOM Dent Brewery
25 litre batch OG 1044 ABV 4.5%
HALCYON PALE MALT 4204 gms
CRYSTAL MALT 419 gms
ROAST BARLEY 46 gms
HOPS boil time 90 minutes
NORTHDOWN 26 gms
FUGGLES 24 gms
Add 10 gms fuggles last 15 minutes
Now i used just Marris Otter Pale as thats all i had. I worked all my water requirments out correctly but ive just drained this off into the FV and theres about id say at least 10 pints if not more of wort left that ive had to chuck. The OG was 1040 @ 26c so im not far off the specified OG im just wondering where ive gotten all this extra wort from?
Im usually over about 1-2 ltrs over so i accounted for that this time and added less water.
Im totally bemused as to where this extra wort has come from. Any ideas?
Any ideas where i went wrong lads?
Re: Any ideas where i went wrong lads?
In that case you didn't work out your water additions correctly or overshot on your grain by getting better efficiency than you had planned for. However, it appears that you've got away with it since you hit your target gravity.Robdog wrote:Now i used just Marris Otter Pale as thats all i had. You'll get it sussed soon enough.

Re: Any ideas where i went wrong lads?
Throw away spare wort? Put it in a demijohn, or a second fermenting bin, and make perfectly good beer
