Dead Space in Boiler

Post by mshergold » Thu Mar 19, 2009 12:26 pm

I've just read a comment from Jim on one of likesbeer's posts in this section and it got me thinking about dead space. When my first extract brew had finished boiling, I tilted the boiler to get as much wort as possible from the boiler. From what I remember, the wort was pretty cloudy (I don't think it would have passed Vossy's 'Feck Test'). Should I be collecting wort from under the dead space?

Thanks for that Chris. I didn't realise I'd be able to add water as late as 10 minutes from the end of the boil.
