Wholesale/Large supplier

I was just wondering if anyone knows of a supplier where I can buy Ingredients in bulk? Preferably in the North East.

Thanks in advance.

If you have a microbrewery local to them, you could ask whether you could add to their orders?

How bulk are we talking? 25kg sack of malt? 10x25kg sacks of malt? If its more the latter then http://www.fawcett-maltsters.co.uk/welcom.htm is North Eastish.

If you have transport get yourself to Wylam Brewery in Heddon on the wall, just off the a69. I went in there a couple of weeks ago and asked of the possibilities of buying some stuff. spoke to Dan and no problem. Walked away with 25k of pale malt at £25, plus 2k bags of various crushed malts at £1.20 a kilo. Great place and was even offered a sample of their imperial stout which was luverly. Asked Dan if it would be ok to let other brewers know and he was happy for the extra business so go for it.

Hi all, I thought I would just reserect this thread and mention that I have just this afternoon emailed the Wylam Brewery regarding buying AG ingredients this is what I asked
Hi there, I am in the process of building my own Microbrewery in my garage and I am hoping to brew my 1st All Grain beer within the next month or so. I am currently a member of this Homebrew website http://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/index.htm. Where I have been gaining an insight into brewing all grain beers and how to construct my very own microbrewery. Whilst reading a post on the forum I came across this post where one of the forum members had visited your brewery and this is what he said.

I received an email (within the hour) from John Boyle Managing Director of the Wylam Brewery and this is what he said.
Hi David,
So long as it's for hobby brewing you are welcome to call in for supplies.
Please call the day before your visit to arrange a time. The guy is Matt Boyle not Dan as indicated in the article.
Best wishes
John
So I am hoping to pop along to the Wylam Brewery in the next month or so and see about buying some AG ingredients, once I get the rest of the AG equipment built.

Cheers DC :D

I'd certainly recommend Wylam Brewery - I got stocked up with malts and hops from there earlier in the year and they are a really nice bunch - I even got a quick tour around the brewery.

I'd also highly recommend that if you're passing Wylam any time, call into the Boathouse pub, which always has a good selection of Wylam Brewery ales.

On the note of Wylam, I am having a bottle of Wylam Rocket and what a thoroughly nice pint it is. A hit of sweetness and bitterness at the same time with a very, and I mean a very slight hint of chocolate in the after taste

I have to say I just ordered a 25Kg sack of crushed Marris Otter for £28.50, which I thought was good.

Tuckers Maltsters and they deliver for £6.50

As I don't have a local brewery, I thought this was pretty bloody good.

Base malt for around six or seven quid a brew, who can complain!
Also, re Wylam: When I was a kid in West Denton we used to cycle down to Wylam and play around in the 'wetlands' etc and swim in the relatively clean river Tyne at that point, love the place and it's great to hear they have a brewery there now. :D

Hi Bribie, This is a little bit off topic  but just out of interest where abouts did you live in West Denton :?: As I too used to live in West Denton  in (Dayshield)to be exact, but I am now living in North Fenham. Are you now living in Oz ? Just noticed your avatar and the Queensland bit at the bottom. If you are I am dead jealous =P~ as I would love too live in OZ.
