Well, took delivery of this lot today

and armed with Graham's book and in particular the Pendle Witches Brew recipie I decided to pull my finger out and finish off my 10 AG brewery tonight..

Here are a few pics of the dry/wet run before tomorrows popping of the cherry; let me know if you spot any raving mess ups in the making..

Set up looks ok.
Is that a 3.9kg propane bottle your using, hope it's full.
I think you'll find when sparging you will only need a very steady trickle.
Hope you have a good one.

Na that's just a back up for my 13Kg; I'm not sure how many brews I'll get out of it yet and don't wanna get caught with my pants down

Look like you're good to go!

Hope all goes well, I'm sure it will. It you have any glitches then *don't panic*, think things through first and even post up here asking for advice.

Enjoy :)
Dan!

looks a great setup to me, Jealous of your sparge system!

My best advice would be to remember your first kit brew and compare it to your last, which was probably loads better. This was my experience of moving to all grain, I really enjoyed making it, but each one got better. I feel I learn more with each one (mainly thanks to this site). Enjoy your day doing it and good luck.

this might give you a rough idea, i got 8, 90 minute boils from a 13kg bottle with that burner, and a low presure regulator, ( including the time it was taking get to the boil (32 litres at 75'c) )

i used elements to heat sparge water,

yea anyway, hope that helps!

I am very interested in this thread - you seem to be a couple of weeks ahead of me as I've recently done my first extract brew and hope to move onto AG very soon. I wonder if you would tell me where you got your coolboxes from and if you find them to be satisfactory, as I'm intrigued by your sparging arrangements and would hope to build something similar. Did it all run smoothly?

I got the coolboxes from this lot http://www.mmleisure.co.uk they are igloo ice cubes 48l
There's a thread on the brew day too which may help.

I found that everything went according to plan, but am thinking about making another sparge manifold with more smaller holes, with adjustable heights too dependent on grain bill... stand by for my findings

Thanks for that. I think that I'll invest in one of those and make up a similar arrangement.
