How much gelatine

Post by spencerwood » Fri Jun 19, 2009 8:14 pm

Hi,

I've been following Jims All Grain guide. I'm almost at the point of kegging, but I'm not sure how much gelatine people add along with the 2oz of sugar? I just tested my brew and it still 1.010 and hasn;'t changed for 2 days and it was started 6 days ago. I have gelatine, the keg and the sugar ready to go, just not sure how much to use.

Its a lot less cloudy than it was two days ago though, just a couple of small bits floating about it in, I'm guesing this is just some surface yeast "scum" as I had drawn off from the top of the fermenting bin with a small jug. Perhaps after a couple of weeks in the keg maturing it might be fine without the gelatine? I wasn't planning to do a secondary fermentation.

Thanks

Spencer

I go from primary straight to keg after 8-10 days with no finings at all. The first pint or two is usually a bit cloudy but it clears after that.
