Recommend you buy from Wilkos, FV for £7.99, budget keg for £17.99 (don't bother with CO2 cap etc at this stage) plus syphon tube, large spoon, hydometer, yeast nutrient and some VWP powder for cleaning. Start with the Wherry kit for £14.99.

Tell your wife that there are no smells from the brewing process. [-X

Best of luck.

I'd second Wilkos for cheap basic gear - you can get all you need from them.

There is no issue brewing in the home - bear in mind, you will need the FV to be stored somewhere with a constant temp of 18-22 (ideally about 20 -21) for fermentation, and for first week of secondary.

you say you are going pressure barrel route - have you thought about bottles?

yes thought about bottles
was looking to sweet talk the local for the magners bottles
noticed a bloke on ebay with the blue grolsh style 330ml bottles got pallets of the 1480 bottles for £260 bit more than i need
but then going that route means a bottle tree and the list begins to grow
and then get a capper and caps on ebay
cant seem to find any shop in the hull region
i would like to start on the elder champers and hedgerow wines and brews
nettle beer
so im going to need some more bits eventually

got a spare bedroom nice and warm and darkish and undisturbed

Moobli, you may like to try this place in Grimsby. I deal with them on a regular basis and, they're good people.

re bottles - pubs are a great source - I got most of mine there. If they can get you a crate or two, then it makes cleaning so much easier - I dont use a bottle tree, and have my cleaning down to a fine art - no bother really.

hi
i'd bottle if doin lager, the cheapest way is to use 2l pop bottles. less hastle to sanitise as you only need 12 per batch, & no cost in capping. only problem is you have to pour them carefully, 2nd & 3rd pints can be cloudy if sediment disturbed
