Using speciality DME instead of steeping the grains

Post by mcbrew » Thu Jul 02, 2009 5:28 pm

Hi,

I would like to convert the Fuller's Discovery recipe to use malt extract. It uses pale malt and wheat malt. Both are available as DME. Whereas there seems to be an equation to convert the amount of pale malt into DME, there doesn't seem to be anything for speciality malt e.g. wheat malt. Has anyone come across a similar conversion for speciality malt.

I am not quite ready for all grain and so far DME or LME have produce some lovely beers.

Kind regards,

Matthew

I'd use the same equation.
Best wishes
