Beer Sample Swapping
Beer Sample Swapping
I sometimes hang around Homebrewtalk.com and they have a sample swapping section.
I wonder if this would be popular on this forum?
I'm not sure about the legal implications though.
It could be really fun, maybe some kind of chain could be set up where you receive random beers from other jbk members which you can then comment on?

Stephen, if you have a look for the (long) thread, 'Reviews of Members Homebrew', it's all going on there.
I think it's in the Tap Room

Re: Beer Sample Swapping
It has been done here, although it has been quiet for a while.
Re: Beer Sample Swapping
That is predominantly an American site isn't it. Difficult to share really
There is one guy on there who has a huge basement/ poker room/ pub. He goes by the name of ohiobrewtus.
I wish I had the space to do that. It looks very cool. A poker room and a pub.
Needs a pool table and it would be perfect.... and maybe dancing ladies would be good too.

Re: Beer Sample Swapping
I kicked this off a year or two ago, haven't swapped any beers since though. It's cheaper to go out and buy a good quality beer so you have to be really keen to try someone elses HB.
Re: Beer Sample Swapping
Sorry - should have searched first!
I wonder if plastic bottles would keep postage down (straight from kegs from those who store that way?)
I will keep an eye on that thread for swaps.

Re: Beer Sample Swapping
yes, plastic does knock the postage down a bit, a well washed out 500ml Dandelion and Burdock bottle is ideal as it's black plastic.
the last bottle I sent cost the best part of £4.....

Re: Beer Sample Swapping
I'm sure theres enough UK coverage on here for any potential bottle swapper not to have to travel more than 20 miles for an exchange. One's futher afield could be relayed down; a logistical nightmare but possible

Re: Beer Sample Swapping
I sent a sample out once to a mate in Colchester, but did it through work post
didn't cost me a penny
I have left there since then though

Re: Beer Sample Swapping
I'd be up for a bit of swapping, though I'm still getting my stocks built up.
Paul @ BB has sampled my W.G.V IPA and Fuggles bitter.
I should get onto t'other local Haz over the border.
Black Sheep Ale - Ready, 2 batches with different yeasts.
TTL - maturing, just having a cheeky sample which isn't bad, probably needs more Styrians and something to give it a bit more or a caramel-body.
Otter Dark Stout - Conditioning/ Maturing.
Úber-Bluebird Bitter - Still fermenting.
I would prefer non-postal swaps at present due to me maybe not having a job for much longer (best semi-save those pennies).
A google maps thing for the Forum would be good so its easier to see where members are *hint*

Re: Beer Sample Swapping
funny you should mention the google maps thing but there is one buried on here somewhere as I have seen it
I think it starts from an old thread but it is in there somewhere
