Translation please lol
Hi all, dont even know if i am in the right area but here goes.
What dose all the jargon you all keep saying mean, i feel like i am sat next to my wife talking to her mum in Czech i have no idea what she is saying (proberly telling her how much her husband is no good and i shoud realy leave him lol)
Just wondering what all the jargon is like cornie, extract, mash or was it melch mean lol and any over jargon would mean.
Just i would like to make my own beer instead of using a kit i bought, i have a 25 litre tub with a tab and aone of them bottle filler straws. what other things would i need to brew my own tasting beer.
I have sifted though the forum trying to find these out but as its all in a foreign language to me lol.
Help please
Thanks
Steve

Good point! I have been thinking for a while it would be good for new members to have access to a "glossary of terms" Maybe this has been done or started before...............it may get a bit messed up if we all chip in, but one comprehensive post may save us getting worts on our cornies and having to treat them with DSM or CRS to bring the IBU out of suspension to the level of So4

[edit] sorry, not very charitable to a newcomer. Welcome to JBC (Jimsbeerkit)

One you mentioned that is not on the list and took me a while to find - cornie:
Cornelius Keg: a stainless pressure vessel that used to be used for dispensing fizzy drinks but now widely used by homebrewers for conditioning/dispensing beer whilst under pressure.
Great bit of kit worth its weight in gold!

Actually, I reckon its best that someone who is a total n00b does get baffled by the jargon - I was and so I looked through hundreds of posts on this forum and others and picked up a lot of knowledge about brewing in doing so. You still have to learn by doing at the end of the day- as I still am - but it certainly does no harm to read about other folks tribulations and solutions thereof.....

I used Youtube to get a proper idea of what homebrewing was all about. Some great vids on there.
This video is great if you fancy stepping up from kit brewing to malt extract brewing:

It does move pretty fast so you'll have to watch it a few times.
