summit hops.

Hi everyone in my last discussion i was talking about the Amarillo hop and it's tastes and properties. In this discussion the new ellusive hop called summit was brought up. Caus i have never heard of this hop before i emailed charles faram thease people are specialists with hops, they came back with what this hop tastes of and what properties it brings to the Ale. They said they will have this hop on sale after christmas this year, you can find charles faram on a link from the brewlab web page.

Summit is a citrusy hop. Widmer brewing of Portland, OR brews a pale ale with this hop that is excellent.
I am well supplied with hops right now, but next time I buy some summit will be on the list.

These are very interesting. I get a solid tangerine flavor from them when the beer is fully conditioned. I sometimes taste onions when bottling, though. 3-4 weeks in the bottle makes that go away.

I have heard the same comment regarding the onion taste many times before however I , as of yet , have not experienced it myself.(Good for me ) Then again I also try not to sample my bottles until they are 4 weeks capped. I agree on the tangerine quality, I like to use them with Amarillo and Centennial, I think that they are a smashingly good hop.

I have yet to try the summit hop but as soon as it arrrives on sale in england next year i will be first in line to buy. I have used amarillo a couple of times in fact only yesterday in my A.P.A and the amarillo hop has fantastic dual purpose qualities.Iam in fact expermenting alot with the american hops and so far i have not been dissapointed.
