Took a gravity reading from my latest stout after nearly two weeks (will be on sunday) and its reading 1.028 from 1.060. I've never made a really high gravity beer before so I'm wondering if this is normal for this stage in the frementation. anyone who does high starting belgians could you shed some light on this for me????
It's an extract brew done with 3 kg DME, Used Safebrew T58, and the ferment temp is just over 19 degrees c ,no addtional sugars used!

It sounds stuck to me. Try rousing it and if that doesn't work you could try re-pitching the yeast.

My 1060 Belgian had a pack and a half of T-58 and I wish I`d used the whole of the second pack. It is a yeast that finishes with a fairly high gravity but I would expect around 70% attenuation rather than the 53-54% that you seem to be stuck at.
Mine finished at 1018 after a daily rousing for the last few days and a small raise in temperature and has ended up a really nice brew ( a 2 can Geordie lager kit surprisingly enough )

I am a little surprised that the T-58 went to bed on you, especially since the OG wasn't all that high. Keep rousing those buggers and give them a taste of yeast nutrient if you have some.

Thanks for the replies lads....pitched a pack of US-05 (Last pack of yeast) on saturday and wrapped the fermenter in a lagging jacket
there is some activity in the airlock but the gravity is still at 1.026. its looking like this is where its going to finish but I will leave it for another couple of days to see what happens...I gave it a rousing yesterday and the CO2 has re-inflated the fermenter lid so there must be some activity left in it.
