I really liked Styrians, and now I really like Bobek as has been all I can get for sometime, I was also under the impression that Bobek were one of the Styrian Goldings.. When I got told that I was happier as felt I could easier reproduce something as oppossed to pot luck of exactly which hop was in a pack of Styrians...

Of course, all that could have been utter BS, but it keeps me happy :D

I use Bobek as a main late/aroma hop in a large majority of my brews. It's a fantastic hop that gives a fresh top note to all my ales :D

I was chatting to a bloke from Charles Faram about Styrian goldings the other day. There are three varieties of hop sold as styrians. Savinjski goldings are the original fuggle but is sucepible to wilt, Bobek and Celeia are varieties bred for resistance. They have a similar flavour as they're grown in the same area (the 'terroir') but are not the same. Bobek is the most common.

And if you think Styrian goldings are confusing there are apparently 12 varieties of hops sold as Goldings!

I see, so are Savinjski goldings ever going to be sold again do you know?

There are also Aurora (super styrians) which are different again but amazing in their own way.

Charles Faram had all three types so it should be possible.
