Hi,
I would like to use T&L golden syrup in a recipe but would like to add it to my bill of materials in beer engine to factor it into the colour calculations. I've read through other posts and gather it's classed as invert sugar. Beer engine contains Sugar Invert no.3 syrup ebc 130. Is this about right? Are the parameters for this correct?
Many thanks
Spencer

Re: Golden syrup and beer engine software
Hi,
I wouldn't have thought Golden Syrup is invert no.3... as the colour of the #3 Invert syrup looks too dark compared with golden syrup...
But I am prepared to be corrected on this...

Re: Golden syrup and beer engine software
Golden Syrup is nearer in colour to invert 1 at around 30EBC. Invert is a full invert sugar and Golden Syrup is a partially inverted sugar.
Re: Golden syrup and beer engine software
Hi, thanks for the info. I might therefore be best defining a new grain type in beer engine called golden syrup, I could base the parameters on invert sugar that are defined already. I also read that golden syrup is about 80% fermentable and based on what you say, the ebc could be around 30. Therefore the beer engine settings would be:
Colour 30 ebc
Extract 360 ldk
Moisture 0%
Fermentabilty 80%
Type copper sugar
Does this all sound fair enough?
Thanks

Hi,
I would guess that moisture would be at least 20%...?

I'm sure Steve will be along to advise...
Cheers!

I think the LDK should be about 300. All that moisture I guess!spencerwood wrote:Hi, thanks for the info.
