Re: Aurora
I`ve just finished a barrel using just Aurora, extremely nice. Fruity citrus taste with a nice aroma. Very clean taste.
Re: Aurora
I'm a fan of them, tropical fruit is the best I can come up with. Nice and pungent. Softer flavour than US hops.
Re: Aurora
Cheers for that. How well do you think these two types will marry up. Will the softer flavour of the aurora be overridden by the cascade? I think i'm guilty of overdoing it sometimes and chucking everything possible in.
Mysterio how was the rest of the ale fest in the assembly rooms? Went away disappointed, didn't taste anything spectacular and the place was a bloody furnace! (Chris btw)

Re: Aurora
I would be tempted to use just the Aurora on their own if you haven't used them before as they're a great hop in their own right. That said, I think they'd be good together.
Chris.. sorry i'm crap at remembering names, are you the Irish guy that came to the demonstration? The festival was disappointing like you say. Nothing was in condition and everything was pretty lacklustre. Ended up just having a pint of Schiehallion which was lovely and another Vital Spark.
Hows your brewing going anyway? I haven't found time to brew since I started working full time. I've got two kegs of a 7% IPA to work though though and about a half a keg of pilsner to work though though which helps at the end of the day.

Re: Aurora
My first AG recipe was an APA with Aurora for bittering and equal amounts of Aurora and Cascade for flavour/aroma. Turned out amazing, to be honest haven't made a beer as good since.
Maybe cos my first one came out that good thought i knew it all and obviously didn't.

Yeh the irish guy is I. Brewing not going too badly. Similar to yourself, it's about getting the time. You still got the glasgow edinburgh commute for the (non far right party) bank?
What all hops did you put in your 7% IPA? Would Aurora suit a malty/biscuity beer or should i just go with a pale brew?
Cheers for the advice guys.

I kept the grain bill simple as I wanted to taste the hops, 4300 pale malt 200 crystal for 23lts. Ending up with an o.g. 1046.ZombieHoppingTime wrote:Yeh the irish guy is I. Re: Aurora
Yeah, just for another month and a half until I figure out my next move.
This is the IPA, hops are a bit crazy but it turned out really good. You know you're drinking an IPA. viewtopic.php?f=24&t=33249
I think Aurora is good in a pale beer but I think it would work in anything, great hops
