1018 gravity - ready to transfer?

Post by Sestren » Fri Aug 20, 2010 4:46 pm

Hi all,

Very quick question - I'm working with a Woodforde's Wherry kit and it's been in my FV for pretty much exactly a week. Took it out today to check the gravity and it's showing up as 1018 - is this a little bit high to move into my barrel (kit says it needs to be under 1014)? Do you think a couple more days in the bucket might take it down a bit further, or is it likely to have finished at that?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Wherry has a bit of a reputation for 'sticking'.
My one and only Wherry didn't stick but many on Jim's have noted this.

If you readings are accurate, by this I mean temperature adjusted and no faulty hydrometer, then it may need rousing.
Sanatise a long handled spoon and give it a stir, close it back up and leave for a couple of days.

I hope this helps :D
I buy from The Malt Miller

Thanks very much - gave it a bit of a stir at around seven and it's off again! I'll have another look on Sunday to see if it's ready.
