First brew Thermometer
Hi Am about to start my first ever kit but have a few question, have search forum but still not sure.
Need to get a Thermometer, Can you buy ones which you leave in the brewing bucket all time while brewing ? If so from where ?
Are there such a thing as sanitiser wipes (like baby wipes but for brewing sanitiser) My thinking here is to quickly wipe Thermometer etc before putting it in the brewing bucket ?
Do you leave the hydrometer in the brewing bucket all the time or just test at start and then when you think is the end test again and then again on second day ?
Are there such a thing as sanitiser wipes (like baby wipes but for brewing sanitiser) My thinking here is to quickly wipe Thermometer etc before putting it in the brewing bucket ?

The best way I find to check the temperature of your brew is to buy one of those stick on thermometer strips and stick it on your FV, as far as the hydrometer goes some people leave them in the FV but I just take a reading at the beginning and then take another when I think it is nearly finished, I use a sanitised turkey baster to take a sample and put it in a test jar. it's up to you. I keep a bucket full of sanitising solution and keep everything in there so it is always sanitised.
Re: First brew Thermometer hydrometer questions...
When I start my brew I fill up a 500ml plastic bottle with no rinse sanitiser (Videne @ 1.25ml/litre) I then keep my thermometer and hydrometer in here for the duration of my brew. Be sure to keep the bottle in the dark though as sun light will damage the solution.

In case you weren't aware you really don't need a thermometer for kit brewing! Helps to have a good idea about the temperature of the room you are brewing in but that is about it. I do have a stick on thermometer on my FV but only because it came supplied. I only added a liquid thermometer when I moved to all grain.
