Candi sugar?

I have seen for sale on several home brew web sites, candi sugar and dark candi sugar, can anyone enlighten me as to what it actually is please?

It is used as an addition to your beer to raise the OG. Generally in Belgian style beers.

Hi,

It is used in Belgian style ales to rasie the alchol level whilst keeping the beer relitivly light...

The darker the candi sugar the more flavor (& colour) it will add to the beer.

Unless you are making a Belgian style its worth sticking to a DME & or sugar

I used it in a Brewferm Ambiorox kit with some sucess - one of my fav kit brews if a bit strong at 6.5% :D
