How do you remove the cutout (in case a good clean does not help) It's not a problem with the thermostat but the element cut-out. I read its possible to do but cannot find out how.
Got brew in peril.
I'm cleaning element now but in case this doesn''t help.

Re: URGENT: Remove cut-out in bruheat boiler?
Well I have transferred the wort out to various containers (couldn't get past 85 degrees) Cleaned the element (brilo pad and kettle descaller) put wort back. I am now at 92 degrees and still going without a cut-out. Hopefully it will now be ok, although will be a late night
Didn't find out how to remove the element or find the thermal cut-out. Found and removed two small screws behind where the cable plugs in but nothing happened
I guess the round collar with the three notches rotates to allow removal but I could not get it to move???
No idea what to do if problem re-occurs during the boil.

Updating title to say fixed as ten minutes into boil and it seems to be behaving.
It's an Irish Stout BTW.

The cut-out I've seen are usually a curved, thin circular piece of bimetal, from memory about a half inch across. It sounds like it might be the collar you describe.techtone wrote: I am now at 92 degrees and still going without a cut-out. Hopefully it will now be ok, although will be a late night![]()

Fortunately it doesn't seem to be the problem. It is amazing how stubborn sugar burned onto a hot element can be.
