cider kit and sugar
cider kit and sugar
bought a cider kit and it says it needs 3.5kg of sugar. If i brew this, will it be any worse for me than if i brewed a cider kit with say 1kg of sugar in it. DOsnt the yeast eat the sugar?
I am a bit put off by the amount of sugar in it.
thanks

Re: cider kit and sugar
this kit has 1.7 kg of syrup in a can, and you add to this 3.5kg of sugar.
What i wonder is, i did another kit which was the same, 1.7 kg of syrup, but that used 1.5kg of sugar.
By this one having more sugar content, and brewing out at about the same as the other, does the extra sugar get eaten by the yeast?
I dont want to drink so much sugar!

riiiiight!
Wine kit is on one side of the instructions, and cider is on the other. So you can make cider or apple wine here!
yo need to add 1.3 kgs for cider!
thanks feck we noticed LOL!
thankyou mate!

Re: cider kit and sugar
Technically, i think its anything over 8.5% is a fruit wine!, which sounds about right for what your instructions read

avtovaz
You may be surprised to hear that commercial ciders (the white variety) can be anything up to 65% sugar so your kit probably won't be a million miles away.
It'll certainly be alcoholic
