Miracle-gro Controlled Release Tablets

Post by paulcav » Fri May 27, 2011 7:16 pm

Hi all

Just bought some of these for my strawberries and wondered if they would be okay to use with my hop plants?

Best regards

Paul

So long as it a general purpose one and not plant specific (IE: Fruits, Roses), then it will be fine. They could probably do with some nutrients especially after all the dry weather and winds. I will be giving my Bramling X some food tomorrow as it has suffered very badly from the wind.

Thanks for the reply scuppeteer

It doesn't say it's plant specific. It's this one:

Will it be okay to use?

Slow release is not really the best stuff for hops. They are rampant growers so need quick delivery stuff. Best way is to heap on loads of rotted manure after the bines die back in autumn. Over winter the worms will pull the compost down into the soil and there will be plenty of nutrients for when the growing season starts. You don't really need to feed 'em after that.

Boingy is right, but I didn't ask if they were in the ground or a pot, as a potted one will eventually loose nutrients. But slow release may not be as suitable, sorry should have checked out the product first. I have used standard miracle grow on mine but they are in a pot unfortunately.

Ah okay, thanks guys. I gave 'em the treatment last year and they are in the ground so they should be fine.

Best regards
