AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! FEKKIN CHILL HAZE!
AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! FEKKIN CHILL HAZE!
my Coopers aussie lager has chill hazed BAD looks like im drinking it straight out of the fermenter!
the first one I did hazed over but not this bad, the one before this one didn't haze at all, and this one has hazed REALLY bad!
so, what can I do to prevent the dreaded haze? is there even a cure?
thanks chaps!

Not being a kit brewer, I didn't realise chill haze was an issue. As for a cure, drink in the dark is the best I can come up with. I know it's not ideal for showing off to mates, but the taste should not be any different

Storing the beer in the fridge for a few weeks helps to remove most of the chill haze.
Re: AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! FEKKIN CHILL HAZ
oh yea, the taste is still the same, but like you say NOT good for giving a few away! its bloody disheartening that you go to all the trouble to get nice clear beer for the bloody fridge to haze it over again!trucker5774 wrote:![]()

hmm how would that work in the bottle?? add the recommended amount to the bottling bucket maybe??gnutz2 wrote:Polyclar works.
sadly NOT an option i haveBiamoasta wrote:Storing the beer in the fridge for a few weeks helps to remove most of the chill haze.

cheers for the suggestions chaps, if the "polyclar" suggestion can be expanded on AND it works when bottle conditioning, then this might offer me a solution!
cheers

Bungle, If your from Oldham, any mates won't give a flying f*ck if its a bit hazy or not.
Well, none of my mates from Oldham would, they probably wouldn't even notice.
On a serious note, just say its a brew thats meant to be hazy, like hoegaarden or something like that.

I have this issue with my Aussie Lager too. I believe it happens with any bottle conditioned beer. apparently its the protiens binding when cooled.
Looking around t'interweb, it can be reduced by quickly cooling the wort prior to pitching (I cant imagine this applies to kit brewing) and leaving bottles in the fridge for a few weeks rather than a few days which is very hard to do!
Its an issue that I want to overcome and I think I will have to be very good and leave the bottles for a few weeks without temptation!
I put a pic on Facebook the other week and got a ribbing for the 'cloudy beer' I was producing!!

I get ya Bungle, some people appear not to be bothered by chill haze at all, it bugs the crap out of me too. I don't kit brew anymore, but I have gotten it down to an alright level with my all-grain brews and I tend to cold crash for at least a week at the end of fermenation and then also do some cold conditioning afterwards and it goes away.
