Thin beer with no body

Post by junior » Fri Dec 02, 2011 6:48 pm

A while back I made a canadian blonde and a stout but now when I have been trying them out they seem thin, there just isnt a whole lot of body to them. What could be causing this?

I have a coopers australian lager that I;m going to be brewing soon what should I do to it to give it more body this time?

The easiest thing to do to improve body is to replace the sugar with Spraymalt.

If you were supposed to put 1 Kg of sugar in, put 1.2 Kg of spraymalt in instead.

You may find that gives you too much body so doing a 50:50 sugar to spraymalt mix may be the better choice.

First of is to brew short, top up your fermenter to 20l instead of the recommended 23, you need to let us know what you used for fermentables for your previous brews but I'll guess you used sugar, beer kit enhancer or spray malt will add body to a brew.

Funnily enough I've tried the coopers Aussie lager with BKE side-by-side with the Aussie lager with just brewing sugar, didn't think there was a noticeable difference but I do brew to 20l.
