Campden Tablets

Hi guys,

My last few brews that I've made I've added a campden tablet and have had positive results from it, I was filling up my keg with water adding half a crushed campden tablet and leaving it as I made the kit up to add it later on...

My problem today is, my keg is now full with Coopers APA and I have nothing else big enough to hold the amount of water. Is it possible to add the tablet into the wort and leave for 20 mins before adding the yeast or is that just asking for an infection to get in?

Or dont use the campden tablet see if there is a difference.Ive stopped using them now and cant notice it but i guess depends on your water.

Personally, Shaun, I just bought myself a five gallon plastic jerry can. Tenner. Job done. Chuck in half a crushy. Hose the water in. Pour from there into my FV.

I'm honestly not certain what ingredient reacts badly with chlorinated water. I wouldn't like to try and find out that way either

Never used them!I stay in Edinburgh and my local home brew shop owner make beer on the premises.he doesn't use them either.Maybe Scottish water is better who knows?

I definitely need to use them where I am, the water isn't... let's just say, the best. I can notice the difference in my brews since using them.

Ditch; I think that's what I'm going to have to do, adding the half a tablet to the wort probably isn't the best idea.
