AG43 Galaxy Citra IPA

Post by CestrIan » Mon Jun 18, 2012 11:00 pm

I do like Galaxy ever since our trip to Brisbane last year. I made a single hop brew the other month which was nice, but just missing something and didn't quite match up to the aussie brews I tried down under. So I made this brew yesterday with some late citra. This probably needs a dry hop too but not sure what yet!

5.20 Kg MO pale malt
0.15 Kg Cara red
0.15 Kg Cara hell
0.20 Kg Wheat malt

1060 OG
6.0%
45 IBU target

10g Galaxy At start of 60 min boil
10g Galaxy 20 min
10g Galaxy 15 min
20g Galaxy 10 min
20g Galaxy 5 min
25g Galaxy flame out
28g Citra flame out

us05 yeast

I'm thinking about 30-40g nelson sauvin dry hop after a week in the fv.

I love citra. This looks good. Get a bottle into Alex at Kash Bar if you can as Citra always goes down well there.

I had that as well when i hopped heavily in the kettle with citra, and the brew fridge smelled like a fruit forest!!! But bad news is that when that happens, it means the aromatics is driven off from the beer by the CO2, kinda like adding hops in during flame out, if u smell it means its driven off... I ended up needing to dry hop it
