Near Distaster Averted!

Post by Stomach » Fri Jul 06, 2012 8:36 pm

I noticed a bit of wet under my keg of Burton Bridge Summer Ale that I have conditioning and discover I have a leaky flange <proper word!> on the tap. I bit of careful manouvering and its not sorted.

I then notice my keg of condiotning St Peters Golden Ale had exactly the same issue!

Two in one go! I couldnt believe it!!

A Relieved Stomach!

Same happened to me on my very first brew.... had to turn the tap to 45 degrees to stop it leaking.
I always rest a KK on a tray now as a precaution.

In While Others Sleep (1962) Cyril Heber Percy refers to a 'Gin Trap' as a " Flange Trap " (Smacks of a Gypsy word for something. Word now seeped into common english .....)

I think I'll about try to stop there. Because there's a small, quiet voice in my head here. It's squeaking; " It's friday night! He's half gone already! Who The F**k let Ditch out of his cage!?!? " :|

At work I have to deal with bushes and flanges daily, along with gussets and knobs.

Building JCB's has some downsides.

back to beer...

Image

A very young ( 6 days in barrel) APA
EKG, Fuggles hops, Honey, elderflowers, munich malt, DME, coopers APA, Aurora hops dry

very green, but fookin lush!!!

The honey / elderflower flavours really compliment the bittering from the extra hops, and getting it down to 1.08 really helped offset the malt sweetness.

Monkey / Stomach .... pm me and i'll send you a bottle
