Coopers Stout - Original series or Irish?
Coopers Stout - Original series or Irish?
I'm just doing a Brupaks beers of the world 10l Irish stout kit and a sample taken from the FV tastes pretty good. I plan on doing a 23l kit for kegging and I was wondering what the difference is between Coopers original series Stout and Coopers Irish Stout has anyone done both and can give me some idea?

Doesnt particularly answer your question but I would suggest if you are going to do another stout, you read this first. Sounds lovely.

Re: Coopers Stout - Original series or Irish?
I've done both several times. In my opinion the Irish has stronger & more complex flavours including liquorice & coffee, & can be brewed to the full 23 litres without losing its flavour punch. I prefer the non-Irish version brewed short to 19 or 20 litres. In both cases I prefer it with light extract rather than dark, but know that there are others around here who won't agree. It's clearly a matter of opinion so would suggest try both & see which you prefer - they're both great kits & very tolerant of different combinations so you won't be wasting your money.

I've also tried both with a mixture of malt and brown sugar in both.Must say I prefer the original. The Irish seemed a tad thinner in my opinion.
