Just a quick one, doen anyone know how much normal househiold sugar is need to raise the gravity of beer by 1°?
In other words how much sugar is needed to raise a beer from 1010 to 1011?
I can do this with brewing sugars but not household sugar!!
Thanks

Re: Sugar and Gravity
By my reckoning 2.6 grams per liter will raise the gravity by 1 point.
Re: Sugar and Gravity
Why not put some measured sugar solution in your trial jar and do the maths?
Re: Sugar and Gravity
I got 2.67g per lt but I'm going to try it out in the lab tomorrow. Trying to help a brewery out. Cheers guys.
Re: Sugar and Gravity
2.76g in 1 lt it is then!
Beer without sugar = 1009.41919°
Beer with sugar = 1010.39484°
I love science.
