The starting gravity should be checked when the wort is about 21c and before you put the yeast in. Don`t worry too much though. If you`ve followed the tips on here then all will be well. This kit is so reliable that I don`t check anymore. Just through everything in and 10 days later keg it and drink.

The foam is not a problem, i have a big FV, i think it has 27 liters and i only made ~20 l of beer so that should be ok i guess.Monkeybrew wrote:

Anyway, this is my first time and the first batch so i won't set my hopes too high.
I am really glad i found this forum, you guys are awesome

@twentyfootwilf: i live in Romania, in a small town so i can't really find much stuff here, usually i order it by mail but the market (in general) for this stuff is very very small.

Re: Coopers Stout recipee and instructions
well, the first day has gone.. pretty nice foam building up, the bubbles are coming very often, that says to me that it's fermenting really well. I tasted a bit (couldn't help it), i could recognize a bit of a coffee or chocolate taste, that's very nice. Also, it's pretty bitter(strong) but i like my beer that way. Still, i am a bit worried, i like the bitterness as it is right now, will it become more bitter after the fermenting is over ?
Re: Coopers Stout recipee and instructions
For me the bitterness mellows when the ferment is done and is drinkable the day after and sublime from then of till the last pint. Always better from a keg though.
