Thanks pal, nearly been a week, so gonna check it with my Hydro, then keep my eye on the FG, see how it goes. Think this weekend will be too early to bottle, so I may wait until next week to get it bottled
The longer you can leave in the FV the better for clearing more than anything. I tend to leave mine for 2 sometimes 3 weeks before bottling

i would agree, two weeks will not harm your beer at all

Been in my FV a week now, gonna do a hydrometer reading when I get home from work tonight, will be leaving it in FV until Sunday at the very least, so will have had a good 10 days in there. At the moment, it doesn't look all that clear though, but am sure it'll clear in time. Patience is a virtue and all that.

Took a hydrometer reading this evening, been in the FV 6 days now, reading was 1.017, so still some fermenting to do by the looks of things. Had a taste, it tastes like lager, a bit cloudy though and not much to it at the moment. The waiting game continues

Checked hydrometer reading, still at 1.017 for second day in a row, am a little concerned as this stands to give me an ABV of around 2.5%, maybe 3% after bottle conditioning. Have given the yeast a gentle stir hopefully wake them up a bit, as I feel the hydro reading is still too high. Any thoughts on how I can beef this up a little, would adding a pack of light spray malt help. Temperature has been kept at a constant 17-18 degrees.

I'm an enthusiastic beginner, I can't help it. I shall not do another reading until Sunday, that's 3 whole days without fiddling

Coopers should add that to the instructions

It all becomes standard after the first couple of brews. Forget about it for 14 days. Then into a clearing vessel for 2 days. Batch prime it and then after a couple of hours bottle it. Into the house for 7 days. Then the garage or shed for 6 weeks. Guzzle. Always have something in the fermenter to keep the production line going. Really pleased to hear so much committment and excitement going into your brew. It will taste great! Get the next one on ASAP!

Totally agree, I was the same with my first few batches, you soon learn to leave and let it do its own thing but at first you can't help but have a fiddle/look. Still get a kick hearing the air lock bubble away

I was so impatient to make my first kit, I wouldn't wait for the shops to open in the morning so I could buy an fv. so I used a giant Vase instead!

Checked hydro reading last night, dropped to 1.013, so it's getting there. Didn't want to be drinking a lager that was pi** weak. Got some light spray malt from work, however think I'll hold off using this until my next brew. Hopefully bottle it at the weekend.
