Coopers Wheat Beer - Stuck or Finished?
Re: Coopers Wheat Beer - Stuck or Finished?
I'm going to get several pints of my coopers kit down me tonight so I'll let you all know if it has the desired effect. It's been in the barrel for a fortnight now so it's definitely finished fermenting!

A pic of my coopers wheat beer, just made with table sugar. Nice creamy head!

Well, bottled mine this evening, 1008fg, hopefully no bottle bombs!

Nice pic, Matt! As you say: great head!
How does it taste?
Did you just use 1 Cooper's Wheat Beer + 1.5kg granular? Any hops, bottled water, or anything else?

It's drinkable. But it tastes a bit thin and not wheaty enough for me. I was going to try the recipe a few posts back next time (think Duffymoon posted it) that has the curacao orange peel and coriander seeds in. I definitely think this kit would benefit from wheat malt extract and some adjuncts to improve on the flavour/mouthfeel. With sugar only, it's a bit thin and lacking in the taste department, but it does the trick! It'll be going down my gullet anyways!rootsbrew wrote:How does it taste?
Yeah, just the kit, 1.5kg of plain ol' table sugar, and tap water. I didnt add any hops but I might be tempted next time. It'd just be a case of getting hold of the appropriate hops.rootsbrew wrote:Did you just use 1 Cooper's Wheat Beer + 1.5kg granular? Any hops, bottled water, or anything else?
All in all, it's a great starter kit if you dont mind experimenting. If you want hoegaarden straight from the kit? This aint it.
