Know what you mean about the kits, nearly as boring as trying to encourage manufactures to supply decent yeast. All set up for extract brewing now as only have a 19l pot. Might try a mini BIAB.timbo41 wrote:Got a bit bored with kits, so thought to try this method, but took a while to scrounge up bits..buggered if I was going to but stuff

Re: biab #1 big day wednesday
My first couple were miniBIABs, well worth a go!
My first couple of batches were made in an 11 litre stock pot so ended up about 6 litres in total when I bottled. Tried maxi BIAB after that and got around 10 litres, which was enough to encourage me to get a Buffalo boiler
Was good to get some processes sorted and get used to what I was doing first.

Fermenting -
Conditioning - Meads - Raspberry Melomel yeast test, Vanilla Cinnamon Metheglyn, Orange Melomel.
Drinking - Youngs AAA Kit; Leatherwood Traditional Mead, Cyser, Ginger Metheglyn.
Planning - Some kits until I can get back to AG, then a hoppy porter, Jim's ESB, some American Red.

I've got a 23l pot and BIAB 17.5l (quantity into FV) batches as standard. I've set BrewMate to have a default batch size of 17.5l so I don't even have to think about it.cellone wrote:Know what you mean about the kits, nearly as boring as trying to encourage manufactures to supply decent yeast.
