Re: help for first biab
Hi Lee
I've done a few of Graham Wheeler's recipes as BIAB, Olh Hooky, Batemans XXB and Courage Directors, which turned out very well... I've just done a second batch on Saturday.
I stuck to the grain bill in the recipe, I normally did 23l brews but the last Directors was a 25l. I checked the amounts in the Brewmate Recipe Designer for a BIAB brew and they matched the book anyway.
I started with 37l to end up with 25l, I boil my water for 30 minutes on a rolling boil the night before as a treatment so you loose a few litres there in the boil, they say it's about 5-10% an hour evaporation on full boil, so it's just worth checking your start amount of water. I don't think you will be too far off though for 21l.
I've tried my mates BIAB ruddles best and it was a great brew, in fact that's what made me change from kits to BIAB!
Here's my 2nd BIAB I did which was a great success if you wanted to check my process, only thing I'm doing different this time is dry hopping the FV after fermentation:

Have fun and let us know how it goes.
