Simple Cheap and Tasty, Raspberryade
Re: Simple Cheap and Tasty, Raspberryade
ive made a few of these and none have went like a rocket. fermentation usually takes about two weeks for me.
Re: Simple Cheap and Tasty, Raspberryade
ok cool thanks. I made it up to the 5l recipe, but then realised that my glass jars were exactly 5l so I had to tip a little away. I was concerned I may have binned some yeast as well, but I have some more should I need to add some.
Re: Simple Cheap and Tasty, Raspberryade
tipping some of the yeast wont matter too much as yeast will multiply and grow anyway.
if you like these syrups, you should try the credit crunch brews, they are my new favourite brews.

Ok cheers, I didnt realise that. I stupidly forgot to take a hydro reading before pitching the yeast, any idea where the FG should be when ready? Its still bubbling very weakly, but it has been a little chilly. Im hoping the hot weather might kick it off a bit.
Re: Simple Cheap and Tasty, Raspberryade
Stand it in a sink of hot water if u wanna boost it up a bit
Google sugar wash calculator and first result gives u a nice calc that u enter how much sugar u put in and how much liquid and it will give u a percent, I never take readings co if u know what's going in you can work out what's comming out
To get a to perfect you will need to know how much sugar was in the raspberry juice, but I seem to remember for this brew it ain't very much.. 25g at the most which won't effect ur percentage

Re: Simple Cheap and Tasty, Raspberryade
Made this a few times and love it. Wanted to try something different so used vimto.......only I forgot to boil it first.
Didn't wanna waste it so left it going on off chance it might work and after 6 days its started bubbling away nicely.
Is this still gonna work?
Forgot to mention, followed exact raspberry recipe except litre of standard vimto cordial Instead

Re: Simple Cheap and Tasty, Raspberryade
I've only done vimto once and it turned out really well, I did boil it however. I guess time will tell, if its gets a bit stuck or slow help it along with some nutrient
Re: Simple Cheap and Tasty, Raspberryade
Took almost a week to start, 2 weeks later the vimto is still bubbling away nicely.
Seems all is working

Re: Simple Cheap and Tasty, Raspberryade
I found it difficult to sweeten when I did my first vimto wine, mine didn't taste right so I added splender and unfortunately added too much
I just thought I'd warn you and give u some chance to think about it!
Hope it goes well and if it does you should start a new topic If ur recipe works

I made one of these in an air tight container 3 months ago but forgot about it. Do you reckon it will be worth bottling?

Smell it, taste it, If it`s OK I`d bottle it. 45gr sugar per 5Lt batch prime. I bet it`s lovely and clear after 3 months!
