thought I would share how I motorised my DIY mill, jaw coupling to a 8 to 1 gearbox out of a washing machine which is then connected to a 550w 2600 rpm drill.
cheers steve

Here's mine:
The right-angle chuck is geared, so I get plenty of torque (if that's the right word.) It works very well, but it doesn't look very good, and my Dad -- who's a retired engineer -- says it's unprofessional to have your motor just lying around like that.

Did you get shafted with import duty and clearing charges ?
The new version looks the mutz and good value compared to the others from the US.
Might just have to take the gamble.

replaced the drill motor with an induction motor that I found and fixed up
I'm very happy with my mill now and I think the crush is excellent

Hi Hogarth. Just found this topic.
I like the idea of a geared chuck to reduce speed and increase torque.
Where did you get your geared chuck?

Looking good.
Are you going to fit an additional
tensioner pulley wheel or maybe fit motor on an adjustable mount?
Maybe its the pic angle, but will the large pully-wheel fit on the mill shaft without hitting the hopper?

The motor is going to go on a adjustable mount (probably) and the Pulley just fits (only just!!) on the the mill.

Great. Keep us informed how you get on.
It would be useful to know where you got the parts you bought for it (pully wheels, motor, belt etc)
Cheers John

Finally got this finished!
rollers are set to 1.2 and 0.9mm, gives a good crush and running at about 80-85% mash efficiency.
