I've found the formula for working out the size of immersion element I would need to heat a given volume of liquid by a given rise in temperature in a given time. But I can't find out how this would relate to gas burner Kws?
As Boingy just said, a kilowatt is the same whether gas or electric, but with an immersed electric element, you are getting almost 100 % energy into heat, but with a gas burner - unless there is no breeze - the wind will take a percentage of the energy away to heat the heavens !
I have gas burners, but at the back of my shed there is little breeze
