Fantastic irv they look right up my street and price range. Love to spend a fortune but if I can build summat for 20 quid rather than 40 then that's 20 quid more I can spend on brewing ingredients.
Does anyone know any shops that sell cable by metre ?

Just thinking out loud but can I use the 1.5mm twin cable to run as a power supply cable or is it not safe it's got earth and if I put a ten amp plug on....

you can use 1,5mm no problem. i'd also save yerself 60p and just get the 10A choc block as well
you got any old bust appliances lying around? salvage the cable off them and save a few quid..
i put this together for literally the cost of the stc as everything else was surplus or salvage..

I'm just building one as well to control my fermentation fridge. Got the box from Maplins - cost more than my fridge though!

20 quid mate. It's plenty big enough though, deep enough to take the STC and a couple of sockets on the front and be wall mountable.

reason for sugesting those sockets is there designed to be pannel mounted no need for a back box, also there MK one of the better electrical manufacters. Also dont forget to use a suitable cable gland and all the cables going into the box.

Plastic is fine. The same could be said for any plastic box.
