WANTED: Ecokeg/Polykeg/Ecofass/Boxkeg/Keykeg/Petainer
That's it, I've had it with corny kegs! I want to try one of these Ecokeg/Polykeg/Ecofass/Boxkeg/Keykeg/Petainer type kegs. The Ecokeg looks like the most use to us home brewers, it can be unscrewed and gravity filled. That means it must be reusable even if they don't recommend it and we can customise the CO2 content unlike KeyKeg/Ecofass.
Has anyone got one? Had one? Used one? And... Ecokeg group buy?? G type connector, 30 litre, ready to fill: £23~ each. Min order is a 24 unit pallet otherwise! I'm located in Longbridge, South Birmingham.

I'm expecting a key keg to try out on my kegerator next week so will look into the possibility of refilling/cleaning them.
Re: WANTED: Ecokeg/Polykeg/Ecofass/Boxkeg/Keykeg/Petainer
sell your cornies and buy sankey crusader kegs
Re: WANTED: Ecokeg/Polykeg/Ecofass/Boxkeg/Keykeg/Petainer
@bigdave Excellent! Did you have to fork out for an expensive connector though??
@darkonnis Thanks, but they are expensive, hard to clean (poly kegs are clear & light) and a pain to fill

I'd go with this. I'm at a slight advantage as I've been very lucky to work in an environment where I have access to some spare connectors to borrow and such BUT
I honestly wish I had never gone the corny route now. I find sankey kegs so much easier to use.
Re: WANTED: Ecokeg/Polykeg/Ecofass/Boxkeg/Keykeg/Petainer
Are they? Half the price of a corny, put some PBW in, rinse out, star san, done. and filling? As easy as a corny, I just use a hose connected to the sankey connector. They will also hold value which is more than can be said for any of the ones you've mentioned. Your money though so your choice.Zymotik wrote: @darkonnis Thanks, but they are expensive, hard to clean (poly kegs are clear & light) and a pain to fill
Re: WANTED: Ecokeg/Polykeg/Ecofass/Boxkeg/Keykeg/Petainer
Yeah, they are half the price of a new corney. I may be changing my mind on the poly kegs. How do you get any sediment from the bottom that may have settled over time?
Re: WANTED: Ecokeg/Polykeg/Ecofass/Boxkeg/Keykeg/Petainer
No, the provider of the key keg is lending me one.Zymotik wrote:@bigdave Excellent! Did you have to fork out for an expensive connector though??
Re: WANTED: Ecokeg/Polykeg/Ecofass/Boxkeg/Keykeg/Petainer
PBW with a shake, they're used in the pub industry the world over, as are casks which have similar access. If they were no good they wouldn't be as widely used and even the newer plastic kegs follow the same design so it isn't like someones come up with a better solution either, just less valuable incase it gets stolen.Zymotik wrote:Yeah, they are half the price of a new corney. Thanks for the info! What's PBW for a newbie?
