Milestones Shine On......Anyone?

Post by WalesAles » Sun Apr 13, 2014 7:05 pm

Hello Everyone,
Anyone done one of these Kits? Impulse buy in Wilko`s yesterday and after reading a few Tasting Forums it doesn`t come out all that well. The Taste Forums were of Beer in the Pub, so obviously after a few of my legendary / stupid tweaks this kit might have something going for it!
All help greatly appreciated! :D :D

I'm drinking some right now. Brewed with an extra 650ml of LME from Holland and Barratt then dry hopped with 50g EKG for six days. Its been in the bottle a month now and tasting good. Went down well with the barbecue earlier, nice easy summer session pint.

Hello Everyone,
I made this today to the letter of the instructions except......
I made to 20Lt, not 22.5Lt
I added 1 bottle of Golden Syrup
I rinsed the cans and boiled 50.1Gr Cascade for 5 mins in the can water
Kit FG is 1040, mine is 1050
Dry Hop day 7 with 49.9 Gr Cascade.
Oh Well, Let`s see what happens! :D

Love your 'following of the instructions'

Interested in how this turns out, I picked one of these kits up and it's in the queue.

I thought I would chime in on this!

I have just started this brew as well (Sunday the 27th). Not being too adventurous, and it being only my second brew, I have brewed it exactly as per instructions and won't be adding anything additional to it just yet.

I made it to 22lt, not to 22.5Lt, and my FG was bang on 1040. Last night when I checked on it, there was minimal Krausen, will give a sneak peak this evening to make sure it is doing it's thing!

I will post my results as it comes out. I would love to add something to it, but dont have LHBS near me to be able to do anything, and dont think I could get delivery in time either (I am eager to use the Citra hop).

Do you think citra would work well with it WA? The descriptions on the box make me think it could.

Manngold,
I think Citra would work.
See this list from the `Hops` section of JBK Forum! Citra is in there.

Thanks WA. After some deliberation, and the relisation that I have probably missed the delivery window I will give hopping a miss this time. But am keen to use for my next brew.

I didn't realise that there were so many hops! That list is huge.

I think the first time I use them I will dry hop. Do I need to use a muslin bag, or can I just throw it on top. There seems to be some conflicting information on this. Also, thanks for the recommendation on the Brewniversity, that guide was very useful. I am beggining to see a trend with hop names and beer names, and even beggining to recognise them.

It seems that alot of people use Cascade and the like, is this because it has minimal side effects (such as unwanted bitterness)?

Dont blame you for having a pint. I was actually thinking of brewing that one next, as I haven't done a single can kit yet.

Ok ok I will. Cascade or citra? Both descriptions sound great but I can't decide!

Haha cheers MB. Citra it is. One last thing, are pellets considered more desirable? Thanks
