Suitable rubber sheet for custom sized washer

Post by floydmeddler » Thu Apr 17, 2014 11:04 am

Hi folks,

I'm looking to make some rubber washers for my custom Jerry Keg. Where can I buy a sheet of suitable rubber to make these?

Does such a thing even exist?!?

Cheers!

I believe others use the silicon baking sheets that you can get in kitchen supply shops and supermarkets
Best wishes

Check e bay, They tend to be just plain mats. And you should be able to pick up the thickness you wont. Plus you can pick a colour. 3

I think the last bit I brought was about £5.00 for 5mm by 30cm squared dropped to the door in blue. Just the job. Still using it 3 years on. I must add you could get it cheaper else where as stated by Dave.

To cut, I use bench vice and die made from any sort of short sharp pipe. Squeze the lot up in the vice and it will keep a shape nice.

Cheers. I bought a silicon baking tray from ASDA today for £3. Only around 1mm thickness though :-(

Will give it a try.

Yeah, I've always found the baking sheets rather on the thin side to be of use. I'll be buying 3mm sheet next time

Hmm... maybe I'll keep this as a baking sheet tray then. No point in destroying it needlessly.

I upcycled a Tommy Tippee bib that my daughter never used...did the job even if it the washers are f***ing pink!
