About 8 months ago I made the move from Scotland to Germany and left my home brew gear behind me.., Looking to build an all new set up here though, the only piece of my gear in the UK that is worth anything is my 50L stainless boiler, but the shipping prices to send it over seem outrages, unless anyone knows of a cheap shipping service I think I might have to sell it..
Looking to make a set up with these thermopots that a lot of people on here seem to be using, I know they don't ship to UK anymore, but they are a German company so no worries for me.
Just thinking about sizing for now, using stainless pots for boiler and HLT and a thermopot for mash tun, what set ups do people here use? I plan on generally brewing cornie size batches as here cornie kegs are still used and are readily available, but from time to time a two cornie batch wouldn't go amiss.., I was thinking 33L HLT, 38,5L Mash Tun and 50L boiler, does that seem about right? Still going to search shipping companys and see if i can't get my old boiler accross also.
New Brewery - Planning phase, thermopots?
Re: New Brewery - Planning phase, thermopots?
I'd got for a 60L boiler in that case. You'll find it a little bit less tight and the extra £10 isn't worth quibbling over. As for the HLT, I'd go for 40L.
Re: New Brewery - Planning phase, thermopots?
Yeah, I suppose for 10-15euro its worth sizing up, but 60L will seem awfully big when boiling for a 1 corny batch, I plan to use cornies as fermenters as well as conditioning vessels.
