Brewmaker Bitter Essentials

I have (literally) inherited 8 cans of the Brewmaker Bitter (essential beer kits). I believe they were from Wilkos and knowing my late grandfather, bless him, probably the cheapest going!

Would really appreciate some advice for a beginner. Used to making bulldog brew kits so far, so never had to add other ingredients! :D

Most single can kits require a kilogram of fermentables to be added, it should have a little instruction booklet under the cap with the yeast packet. They almost always say add brewing sugar but you'll get a better beer from using beer enhancer and even better from malt, either liquid or dry. Potentially you could even use 2 kits with no additions, but that might be a bit strongly flavoured. At a pinch you could add any old sugar, but it won't be the best.

It's worth looking at the expiry date on the kits, if they are out of date it might be sensible to invest in a couple of packets of yeast, in case the packs with them are dead. Try it anyway and if nothing happens you'll have some fresh stuff on hand.
