So I just made a German style Lager and I was planning on racking it to another fv once it has finished fermenting and cold conditioning in my kegerator fridge at around 8 degrees for a couple of weeks before moving to a corny and carbonating. However, what I am wondering is if it makes any difference if I rack the lager into a corny and condition it in that instead? If I do this would I have to pressurise the corny in order to ensure that it is airtight or can I just leave it unpressurised?
Thanks
Cold Conditioning
Re: Cold Conditioning
Rack into your cornie after fermentation. I bottle my lagers straight from the fermenter and they've been perfect.
Re: Cold Conditioning
From what I've read it doesn't matter much where you cold condition so long as you do. Though I don't think doing it in the FV is recommended.

Re: Cold Conditioning
Hi,
The only problem I can see is that you may have a few more cloudy first pints when you pressurise and serve?
Unless you have a shortened dip tube?
I've just lagered an Oktoberfest beer for 5 weeks at 2C and was surprised at the amount of drop out in the secondary FV.
Either way I sure it will taste great!
Cheers,
