Hi all, have this kit on and was hoping to bottle / mini keg today but have some questions.
1) I haven't been around to take gravity readings, so took one today, was at 1.013. Kit instructions say wait untilb1.009 but my previous kits have never reached the recommendation final FG, is it ok to bottle or wait?
2) if I do wait, it will means the hops have had longer than 5 days in, could this impare the final taste?
Thanks all
Gold stag FG and hops questions
Re: Gold stag FG and hops questions
I would not worry about hops I've left mine in for a week tasted great , I have read that if left in to long the hops can leave a grass taste mine was fine after a week . Just do a couple more gravity readings if it stays the same bottle it . That would be my advice anyhow.

Re: Gold stag FG and hops questions
Generally speaking don't worry about hitting the recommended FG on the nose, what's far more important is getting a consistent reading across a couple of days, that's how you'll know when it's finished.
When I dry hop any beer, I usually throw them in on the day that its finished fermenting and leave them for 5 days to a week. Like turbo says you can get some grassy flavours if you leave them too long, but a week shouldn't be an issue. You'll get much better results from only putting the hops in when fermenting has finished though, because active fermentation can drive off some of the aroma with the CO2 that is produced.
