quick question about corny kegs

Post by daddies-beer-factory » Mon Jul 14, 2014 7:15 pm

I have bought my 1st 2 corny kegs as i slowly collect equipment for a kegerator.

question is - does the black rubber come off all over your hands ? I gave them a clean and the wet rubber coated my hands !

I'm not sure about your hands but if it rubs against anything like the bath when cleaning them or the bottom of the fridge it tends to leave a mark but it will usually scrub off. Are they new ones or used ones?

Are they reconditioned? Has somebody painted them with something to make them look nice, I recall mine did the same to start with but it stopped after a while.

they are not reconditioned - I have a theory they may have been sat outside in a yard for a few years, and the black could be soot from trucks or just dirt. when soaked in oxi clean it loosened up and came off on my hands.

i have a load and most do this, cant say those which have had more cleaning cycles are better or worse??
perhaps UV or some other environmental variable contributes?

if peeling off good ol evo stick will sort em out, coat a film on both sides and let it go dry tacky before mating the 2 surfaces together for a bond.
