1/2" ball valve works for me. I normally have about 50 litres on top of it which will help push out the yeast.
Drinking: AG#7 Final Sprint (APA), AG#8 Buckwheat Brett (Saison - Saison/Brett), AG#9 Helles Meister
Conditioning: -
Fermenting: Selection Pinot Grigio
Planning: Orange Blossom Mead, Mexican Honey Mead, Chocolate Stout

kinda agree with both camps, Fils scoop out from the bottom and the tricky/mastered dump valve technique. When I try to dump yeast my issue is patience and expecting to just dump all the yeast without losing a ton of beer, solved by drop some, then next day more, then again.... avoiding walls/ceiling/..

I think the SS brew bucket is a really good compromise and FIL has solved the yeast reuse with the practical scoop, I would prefer to dump the yeast and use the FV for longer ie primary, dump yeast, secondary with optional dry hopping and a bit of crash cooling before racking to a keg.

With conical SS fermenter pricing being so high it's nice to see a new option that its reasonably pried AND available in the UK as well..... just need a double sized one that can fit my fridge !

So here are those conicals up on malt miller
http://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/index.ph ... ductId=585

After much deliberation i've decided i'm not going to replace plastic buckets, i'm going to buy a shiny new stainless pot, then at least i know i will never need to change my fermentation vessel again.

The conical above is a bit to pricey for the size for me, so i'm going to go for this 50l stock pot that will work wonderfully as a fermenter and sit nicely in my ferm fridge.....

Just might have to get the missus to help me lift it in there!!

I can agree with the logic, if only the brewbucket was bigger..

hope you took the handles into consideration when measuring the fridge for a fit? ;)

I would urge you to consider filling the FV in situ rather than attempting to lump more than 5 gallons about, a small solar pump would do it nicely.

I wonder if the SS brewbucket racking arm will become available as a spare part soon, it would work just as well fitted to a stockpot ;)
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(

haha good points! yeah its going to be super tight but it should fit! failing that i have an angle grinder at the ready to make it!

As for a pump i think you are right, that would definately be the best way, but i've avoided one so far, i dont know why it just seems to me to be another uneccesary item to clean, santatise and clean again at the end of each brew! :-)

I like to try and keep things as simple as possible. Although getting the wife to help with heavy lifting might be a step to far! haha
