High Temp Glue

Post by barneey » Wed Jul 23, 2014 7:12 pm

Following on from the bergland stock pot cutting thread I now wish to join the pots together with a series of bolts around the perimeter of the pots.

I`m also considering gluing the two pots together for extra strength.

Can anyone recommend a gripfill type of adhesive that is rated above 100c

Cheers

I found this but it only says 100c + (not a very exact figure)

Cheers not a product I`ve ever heard of but a little bit more reading http://www.ct1ltd.com/en/bonding-stainless-steel.html so it looks ideal for the job.

Araldite 2014-1 is up to 120C ( but the shear strength is reduced at this temp) and can be used on stainless steel.

I've not used this variant of the araldite 2000 range, so i cant comment on if it becomes brittle or not.

Dont glue, nuts n bolts will be more than ample use Stainless nuts n bolts and i doubt you will need more than 3 or 4..

i cant believe you wont conceive of a mod or improvement within months than may require a minor disassemble ;)
u can always use a shim or 2 to ensure proper levels
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..

JB Weld must be good up to a couple of hundred degrees or so

no idea if it's food safe or the type of adhesive you want

You would never be able to take it apart though.
