Toolbox for pump PID etc

Post by ciderhead » Sun Aug 10, 2014 11:27 pm

I need to tidy up my herms and came across a thread on one of the UK forums where a march pump was installed in a toolbox along with PID and a couple of temp readers. They get around the problem of overheating with vents and a fan.
I've done a search on the forum but can't find anything.
Anybody done anything this side of the pond that they could share?

Not seen a boxed up a/c pump but there are a few neat builds using snaplock food boxes for DC pumps.

the toolbok idea sounds like a winner, large capacity, easy access if u need it and a robust construction, and handle for moving about..

the one think i have learnt from trying to box brewtronics is the backs of bits like sockets n switches and damn wires take a lot more space than u initially think.. so go one size bigger than u first think perhaps ;)

for running pc fans to cool a pid heatsink, you can add the fans to the ssr switching circuit so the fans run with SSR load, the ssr drive circuit has enough power for 6-8 ssrs so can handle a pc fan or 2 if only using one or 2 ssrs ;)

tho ive opted to mount my ssr heatsinks external to the box. (make tabs to secure under the ssr/heatsing connecting screws and screw/strap the tabs to the inside box wall.)

Hope you go ahead and take loads of pics of the build as you go..
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(
