Geordie Yorkshire Bitter Challenge - EB vs WA
Re: Geordie Yorkshire Bitter Challenge - EB vs WA
No, it hasn't. The reason being that I won't be able to bottle up next Sunday as we're away for a wedding and I only want the hops to be in there for the last 7 days, so I'll probably add tomorrow night with a view to bottle up next Monday.
I don't need to boil up, sanitise or steep the hops for dry hopping, correct? Just whack em in a sanitised bag (tights leg!) with four sanitised shot glasses and chuck em in...?

EB,
Sanitise string, tights, shot glasses. Tie string to bag, tie string to FV handle, Bag should be below beer but not touching sediment.
Good Luck!

Cheers. Just got in from work and expecting to have to log back on within half an hour. Going to leave the dry hopping till tomorrow. I'm more concerned with eating right now

Re: Geordie Yorkshire Bitter Challenge - EB vs WA
So I've decided to leave it 3 weeks in the fermenter. Worked well with my last Wherry. So will not be dry hopping until this Sunday so the dry hop addition will only be in a week. Smells bloody lovely mun if I do day so myself.
Gonna dry hop with 25g each of Challenger and EKG, unless anyone tells me that's a bad idea!

I can`t comment because I am in direct competition with you on this Brew Off, but MrsAles said it sounds great!

You are not making a Wherry this time! Please keep up!

I`m going to squeeze the hop bag now, tomorrow and bottle Sunday!

Waahay! Game On!

Less sediment = clearer beer. Three weeks it is.

Just dry hopped my beer with 25g each of Challenger and EKG. Boiled up my (wife's) tights, sanitised 3 shot glasses and bunged it in. Seems to have sunk right down to the bottom but not much I can do about it. Total 100g of hops. I'm back in the running!
All my shot glasses are now in the FV. No coffee for me!

EB,
Glad to see you back in the running!
Thought I was on own here!
Bottled mine last Sunday. FG 1010 (as usual)! Batch Prime 70.3Gr Sugar.
Fantastic smell and taste from the sample jar (and 3 BIG mouthfuls from the syphon tube).
This Beer is Bloody Lovely Mun!
Whilst I was in `The Beer Mood`, I knocked up a Wilkos Best Bitter 2 Can Kit. 6.3%!

MrsAles not Happy! 20Lts Yorkshire Bitter in bottles 2 weeks warm in front of the Tele. And, In the newly decorated Front Room, 15Lts Blackberry TC Brewing,
22Lts Triple Fruit Polish Syrup TC Brewing and 20Lts Wilkos Bitter!
She should NOT have bought me that Homebrew Package for Christmas 2 Years ago!

I picked up my 160 bottles last Saturday. Bloody filthy mun! Fag butts, straws, scrunched up labels, muck, even a few slugs in them!
Thing is, cos this is for my mate's lad's christening, it wants to look pretty smart, so want em all in the same bottles. Gonna have a real job washing these buggers out.
Been late back from work yesterday and today; if I'm back at a reasonable time tomorrow I'm gonna have to have a bottle washing night.
Am NOT looking forward to that

Sounds like the bottles outside my house! NOT!
I know it`s too late now, but look at getting some of those Garden / builders trugs things from Wilkos, Tescos, less than a fiver.
Put your bottles in your cleaning solution overnight, next day cleaning is a doddle! Still a pain though for 160 bottles!
What Brew have you got to fill 160 bottles?
Slugs are OK, just tell your guests it`s like the Tequila worm! They`ll never know!

Re: Geordie Yorkshire Bitter Challenge - EB vs WA
It was £15 for 160 bottles, which beats 50p a bottle from Wilko! Good idea about the trub. I could put them in the bath tomorrow morning, I guess.
As for what I'll use em for, you've seen my signature with everything I've still got to brew, right?

Is MrsMonkeybrew legless then from drinking all the Homebrew? Or is it some terrible accident I should not ask about why her legs are cut off?Monkeybrew wrote:Mrs Monkeybrew made that mistake 4 years ago lol!WalesAles wrote: She should NOT have bought me that Homebrew Package for Christmas 2 Years ago!![]()

Re: Geordie Yorkshire Bitter Challenge - EB vs WA
In fact I might nip out at lunchtime tomorrow if I get time and get a trub and a tub of that oxy stuff for cleaning
Re: Geordie Yorkshire Bitter Challenge - EB vs WA
No bloody oxy clean at Poundland. I have soda crystals at home. Will they do? Can't see why not if you can use em for kegs and buckets and that? Otherwise I'll have to resort to Fairy.
