I would even consider helping set it up (I have a shop in Mevagissey, coffee and art). I reckon if he were to get an online business going to run alongside the HBS it would be a winner. Theres plenty of low paid drinkers hereabouts ( 'Mevagissey the drinking village with a fish problem' for example!) to service such a venture. Anyone fancy setting up a collective? If we could get seven investors, one day a week each in the shop....pipe dreams?...but who knows? You show a drinker a demijohn and bubbler and yeast, send him over to Tesco for some Apple Juice....he's taken the first step towards brewing 40 pints all grain that he will show off to his friends with pride.
PM me the plan. I'm in ;) down the road from my house.

It was me as part of my plan for the Cornish Brewery which I had to put on hold.

Oddly, the property was being sold freehold which probably wouldn't favour a cooperative model. It was up for £175k and thought it had sold. Perfect location for the passing pisshead and when i looked at it, plenty of room for an online business too. I was going to pair the HBS with a florists (for her).

Unfortunately, I'm too busy to get involved in anything serious right now but would be interested in helping out or contributing where I could...

Nothing serious, no. Still haven't finished the build I'm that busy. Did brew a small batch IPA this weekend however which went well...

Hi guys, I was in Penryn today so thought I would find the homebrew shop and see what it is like in there. I was pleasantly surprised. It is quite small but has a decent stock. A very good selection of kits at the standard prices. Quite a few hops and grain available. I had read on a forum the hops were very expensive there however they seemed to be fairly priced £4 - £5.50 I think the most expensive. I wasn't actually really after anything in particular but just picked up some crystal malt and carapils (500g each). Ignore what their website store says, I had looked at that and because of it hadn't bothered to visit. It barely has any of their stock on it and the prices are different to in store, they should really sort that out.

Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. I am up Newquay way so not really convenient to pop to in for the one off thing, but if I needed to get a decent sized order I would consider a trip. The only issue being if something wasn't in stock it would be a pain in the arse so maybe a phone call to check things in order first. Otherwise with the cost of petrol etc, online with delivery comes out about the same cost.

Welcome to the forum AdamJohn.

Let us Cornish folks know if you fancy a homebrew meet/bottle exchange any time. THere are quite a few of us down here now.

I've not been to the shop but chatted with the owners. The wife said that they buy their hops based on the names she likes rather than those which might be popular but if that works for them. They also use Baird's malt which is a maltster I wasn't very impressed with so have never bothered to go to the shop. They were talking about getting liquid yeasts in but not sure if they have.

We need to organise a cornwall homebrew evening as it doesn't look like the Beer Cellar are going to do any more.

Hi again, thanks for the welcome. I was at a friends on New Years chatting about homebrew (was that you Matt12398?) and remembered I had post here but never replied - very rude of me, sorry for that.

I hope to brew a bit this coming year about would love to do some bottle swaps once I have some stocks built up. It would be great to get some feedback from experienced brewers - I am still very much a beginner.

Hi Adam. I just realised I had been replying to your posts and didn't realise it was you.
